The State Grid Nantong Power Supply Company in Nantong, Jiangsu province, recently completed satellite remote sensing inspections and intelligent hazard surveys of power lines including the 500 kV Lyuji line. This inspection marks the first independent use of satellite remote sensing to conduct a comprehensive survey of hidden dangers in a 500 kV power transmission line in the city. The 500 kV Lyuji line is the first 500 kV wind power transmission line in Nantong, responsible for integrating over 1.1 million kilowatts of wind power into the Jiangsu power grid each year. The coastal region of Nantong boasts abundant wind energy resources, with the local offshore wind power installed capacity reaching 5.98 million kW so far. This year, over 15 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity have been transmitted to the grid. Satellite remote sensing inspections are preferable due to their broad coverage, fewer environmental limitations, high efficiency, and strong targeting capabilities, enabling rapid screening of potential hazards on a large scale. "The efficiency of satellite remote sensing inspections is about 15 times that of manual inspections, and we have identified changes in the status of 297 high-risk hazards through this large-scale satellite survey," said Wen Mingqian, a staff member at the State Grid Nantong Power Supply Company. Currently, the State Grid Nantong Power Supply Company is planning to conduct satellite remote sensing inspections of six 500 kV power lines within its jurisdiction. By combining drones, visual monitoring systems, and ground-based manual inspections, they aim to establish a more comprehensive three-dimensional inspection system to ensure the safe operation of the power grid during the peak winter season.
